a success i had with the last setup is that i used 16000, 15 ,15 ,15 parameters over custom cd copy with medium sinc at 48khz. then i reconverted without the gauss rounds with subset, 12, 15, 8, 8 fast sinc 44khz. this allowed a certain detail in which with flac you want the hardware to process the signal with a sort of strong and performance granting setting. with flac comes the idea that with the apodization for which to place on for the signal to be at least manipulated for which is in the formal of complexity in the goal of quality, you want the customization to work the way the format allows true industry in the experience. ill be listening after this specific setup for conversion for a while and that will inspire me to iron out more details about the apodization parts for future conversions. i still havent found out all the niches inside what functions should be placed in what order inside the round setup.

here is a lateralus album by tool i ripped recently with FLAC customization using window parameters that were in place for a custom variation i chose myself to give a desired result. its a fresh rip and you can alter window values with different slider values over each conversion as you wish. its a good place to start realizing the intricacy of how flac conversion works for better quality.
