im getting a little confused about the flac encoder in freac. i tried the sample blocksize at just under 25. and set the lpc slider to 24 and the residual coding sliders to both at 15. i used the custom window function list in the previous post for my encoding of tool albums. my notion to make out to myself is that i suppose i go about putting the sample format to 24 for the sample rate conversion inside the signal processing steps. im not sure the sample format has to do with the sample blocksize step. ive been using the signal conversion step in my encodings when i wanted a setting at just under 24 sample blocksize and lpc slider for 24 to get the samples at the right values.... but it seems the quality isnt good with the signal converstion step. you see... i tried encoding with the 24 values and without the signal conversion step and the quality was better than other attempts and the sample format was encoded to 16 bit without and signal converstion steps. soo, now i have to figure out if at all, the sample blocksize has anything to do with sample format... i very curious to know for my bigger active life surrounding encoding with flac format.

here is a lateralus album by tool i ripped recently with FLAC customization using window parameters that were in place for a custom variation i chose myself to give a desired result. its a fresh rip and you can alter window values with different slider values over each conversion as you wish. its a good place to start realizing the intricacy of how flac conversion works for better quality.
